There\u2019s always an ugly jog when knitting stripes in the round and changing colors. Then there\u2019s the fiddly twisting of the stitches to carry the yarn along. And the last stitch will be loopy anyway. And how to manage the tension to avoid holes in the knitting? I experimented a little and found a technique that works for me. Maybe it works for you too.<\/p>\n\n

Round 1<\/h4>\n\n

Knit all stitches in the new color.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Round 2<\/h4>\n\n

Slip the first stitch as if to purl with yarn in back, then knit until the end of the round.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Round 3<\/h4>\n\n

Here you see the slip stitch from round one. All other stitches have been knit twice.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Bring the second strand over the needle like for a yarn over.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Knit both strands together.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Knit a few stitches. Note that the last stitch of the previous color is a little loopy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Tighten the stitch by gently pulling the strand of the previous color. \nKnit to end of round.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Knit to one stitch before end of the round.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Again bring the strand of the previous color over the needle.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
